More about this Ozow fantastic position

As the Head of Operations at Ozow you will play a crucial role in driving the success of Ozow’s strategy, by combining deep knowledge and understanding of Ozow’s business with the implementation, and monitoring of critical performance and success metrics that meet the overall company strategy.


Ozow is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced leader who is adept at both identifying strategic trends/needs of the business while rolling up their sleeves to execute on prioritised projects and initiatives. You need to be obsessed with deeply understanding important departmental and cross-functional problems and then using innovation, empathy and technology to solve them in a repeatable way. You need to have a default bias to using data to make decisions and creating a visible and transparent metric-driven culture.


You are an ideal candidate if:

  • 8+ years’ relevant experience in operations, including 5+ years in a scaling technology business.
  • Relevant qualification.
  • A proven track record of identifying customer pain points or opportunities, developing work plans, and building support for improvement in processes and tools.
  • You have a proactive, entrepreneurial approach to develop flexible solutions, e. g. when to implement vs. test and iterate.
  • You have excellent judgment with ability to process and balance multiple viewpoints and inputs.


Your roles and responsibilities

1. KPIs and ROI per department. Accountable for operationalising the company’s strategic plan across all departments.

  • Ensuring KPIs per quarter for each department are set and align with that of the business.
  • Measuring, monitoring, and reporting on the ROI per department.
  • Standardising of processes and procedures across the departments, to ensure on-demand visibility of ROI and tracking of KPIs in line with the company’s strategy.

2. Operational risk. Accountable for reducing the harmful impact of risk on the operations, and capitalising on innovations.

  • Ensuring that all operational risk is visible to leadership, and easily digestible plans are in place to mitigate negative risk and to take advantage of opportunities.

3. Mergers and acquisitions. Part of the team responsible in ensuring due diligence is performed in line with the merger and acquisition plans of the business.

4. Team leadership. Leading and managing the operations team including coaching and developing employees and teams for a more effective skill-set and work environment. Including by not limited to overseeing the Head of Product Operations, Development Operations, and Business Operations.

  • Strategic in your thinking. You are able to see and communicate the big picture in an inspiring way. You determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends.
  • A team player. You reach out to peers and cooperate with supervisors to establish and overall collaborative working relationship.
  • Highly attentive to detail. You do not let important details slip through the cracks or derail a project.
  • Persuasive. You are able to convince others to pursue a course of action. You are a skilled facilitator and able to resolve conflicts when they occur.
  • Open to criticism and ideas. You often solicit feedback and react calmly to criticism or negative feedback.
  • Able to hire and develop A Players. You source, select and sell A Players to join a company. You coach people in their current roles to improve performance and prepare them for future roles.
  • Flexible/ adaptable. You adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions. You cope effectively with complexity and change.
  • A good communicator. You speak and write clearly and articulately without being overly verbose or talkative.
  • Entrepreneurial. You have experience creating new value within the business.
